We want to thank Rusty and Larnold for filling in for us on the RhettandLinKast Live last night. If you watched the show, you know that they were still walking on air following their appearance earlier that day on the WRAL Noon News. Last night's show will be posted next week, but you can watch their 6 minutes of local news fame now:
Yes, we've pulled some strings to bring you the best in live internettainment tonight on the RhettandLinKast Live. Olympic Silver Medalist Elaine Breeden will join us as a live video guest thanks to our on-location correspondent Rob "The Webrespondant" Wheeler, to discuss the finer points of olympic swimming and medal winning.
Also, we made a special live appearance on the local news today, and we'll show you the footage from that appearance. You've got to watch to see the gift that we offered to Bill Leslie, the WRAL anchor.
Set your alarms for 9PM Eastern, pause the NCSU-USC football game on your TiVo, and come on over for one-hour of unadulterated internet fun. It's all happening right on the live page
I too hope the show is posted soon as I am looking forward to the 'Rhett & Link' kast and not the 'and Link' kast which was too btw.

It was a wonderful show and thanks for playing a variety of music during the pre-show! It was absolutly marvelous! As a musician and hopeful future music educator, I love being exposed to all sorts of music! Continue to play what you wanna play! It's good to expose your fans to different types of music! Thank you for that!
Anna · Aug 29, 2008 5:01pm
Great performance on the news guys, that shirt Link wears cracks me up! I hope the show is posted soon!
sunny_gf · Aug 29, 2008 4:01pm
I expected Link to ask the special guest all about that tasting-the-pool thing, but he didn't ...
it has been a good show, but I like the original characters better :)
theMostlyHarmless · Aug 29, 2008 1:44pm
I enjoyed the show last night. It certainly had a variety of celebs to cater to: An medaled Olympian, a math olympiad, and a middle school athlete. I dont know how you can top that video guest, but im sure you guys will think of something in R&L headquarters. So im going to look forward to future kast.
P.s. I still havent recieved the secret song for answering a trivial charity question in July when Brian Layman took over the reins of R&Lkasting for the evening.
CLaire/ iCLaire · Aug 29, 2008 12:55pm
Joined part of the pre-show lastnight, loved the Merle Haggard tunes! I'm glad y'all didn't cave and switch to another artist, it's good for people to experience different forms of music once in a while. Next time play some Marty Robbins! YES!! :)

We knew this day would come, and we were all dreading it. With today's video, the Alka-Seltzer Great American Road Trip comes to an end (although we hope it will continue to live on forever in your hearts). As we traveled the highways and byways of this great land, we were always sure to stop at anything that claimed to be The World's Largest. Here it is, the World's Largest Song.
Here's to all the people that said sponsored video would turn people off! Thank you all for helping to make this series a success, by watching it and enjoying it.
What's next? Probably a short break for the sake of our sanity and families. But you can expect us to continue to churn out internetainment as fast as we can for the foreseeable future, for you. Thanks!
I'm Hungry... very hungry.
FOR GIANT FOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So sorry to see this run end... :( I've had so many good times and laughs from these videos and I have to say that the Alka-Seltzer Great American Road Trip will always have a fond place in my mind. I do, however, have a question.
Are there blooper vids???? :D
That'd be AWESOME!

This was such a great and unexpected video! The expressions on your faces when you were talking with the giant man were really funny!
I am very sad this has to end, and I love the fact that none of these videos made me think "this is too much like a commercial". They were just really fun and great videos that happened to be sponsored. So kudos to you guys for finding a great balance!

Thank you for making Mondays and Wednesdays entertaining!
Anna · Aug 28, 2008 1:18am
not my favorite song of yours, but it was funny and i think the alka-selzer great american road trip deserves a standing ovation.
G-Reg_Hippo · Aug 27, 2008 10:20pm
Yeah, virtual pat on the back....if i could subscribe again i would. But you guys really did a great job. I enjoyed the food related stuff, really because it narrowed down the video topics and made you be creative in a different way. Great series. But rest up and get back to makin funnies,, because I think i have become an addict and if i don't get my videos on Mondays and Wednesdays anymore, i may be going through withdrawals. Again Great Job guys.
JoJo (soccerMAN2011) · Aug 27, 2008 10:15pm
Good video, as expected.
My feelings on the ending of the series are mixed, however.
Though I thoroughly enjoyed it, something about it was just....different from the rest of your videos.
So though I'm sad to see it end, I'm most certainly looking forward to your next non-food related video.
Nicole (RandomNigel) · Aug 27, 2008 6:58pm
Will you be putting the speedy songs in a mp3 format for downloading or even purchase? Good stuff guys!
John · Aug 27, 2008 6:43pm
The ASGART IS OVER. We grew dependent on the Monday & Wednesday boosts and they became a much anticipated part of our lives. Now that way of life is coming to an end. :(
To quote the great John Wayne from the movie HONDO:
''It's too bad...it was a good way!''
Thanks, Guys! It was a GREAT trip and fun while it lasted! :)
Mamacitax7 · Aug 27, 2008 6:30pm

kelcie · Aug 27, 2008 6:16pm
Why does it have to end? Every one of the ASGART videos made me LOL. My favorites were Maine Man, followed by the Cheese Rap and the Discount Fish Commercial. All of the rest fall closely behind. Thanks for the laughs! :)

What better place to begin applying the brakes on the Alka-Seltzer Great American Road Trip than waaay up there in Maine! We can still taste the lobster, the saw dust, and the sea water. Perhaps our music video will become the Official Tourism Song of Maine...
Ever been to Maine? What did you do? Comment below...
plus, let us know--what's your favorite part of the video?
My favorite part? The whole thing was catchy and funny, and it is difficult to identify one single favorite part.
I liked:
- the long bladed chain-saw - over the top manly.
- I like the fish
- cousin Glenn's "wha?" glance
- the state bird, fossil, insect, etc. "contest"
- I love the "I got some cousins in maine"
- I been supportin' the economy in Mai-ai-aine"
The harmonies were great, the tune was fun - one of your best.
Daniel · Sep 4, 2008 12:07pm
Nope, never been to Maine - I think it'd be a nice place to visit, though.
My favorite part of the Maine Man song is Link's mannerisms on "the state cat is the Maine Coon" - classic early 1990's! Too funny!
Thanks so much, guys, for the great - and perfectly hilarious - summer road trip!
HeatherinAL · Sep 1, 2008 11:15am
I just noticed in the scene when there by the boats behind Rhett is a boat name "Ugly Anne" I laughed so hard when I saw that. I am not sure if they meant to get that in the back ground but that is funny.
Wayne · Aug 29, 2008 2:00am
Hahaha. You guys are great! I just went to ME for vacation this summer and stopped at Portland Head Light where you did some of your videoing. I wish you had been doing it when I was there....
KJ · Aug 27, 2008 2:26pm
Outstanding! The song is stuck in my head! Definitely my favorite of the series. I pick out a new favorite line every time I listen to it. I went on a 23 hour roadtrip to the Canadian border. I drew the 2AM driving shift from Portland through Bangor to the border. Straight up I-95, trying to stay awake and watch for moose on the interstate through the fog and rain. I think I saw 10 cars all night. Good Times. Rhett, congratulations on your new progeny(NCSU animal science word).
bubba · Aug 26, 2008 10:36pm
After seeing one of your videos on a comedy blog, we started looking around to see if you had any other work.
So now.... I have spent far too much time the last 2 weeks, watching everything I can find that you two have made. You amaze me with the talent and variety-nothing is the same, but everything is great.
This was one of the BEST. Two of my favorite parts-when Link puts the lobster in his shirt, he steams it so fast it automatically turns red. Then when Rhett says "with this Loser," his voice changes to emphasize the LOSER--very very funny.
Thanks for sharing your talent and amazing sense of humor-I keep wondering how you do this without cracking up constantly!!
NWMomof3 · Aug 26, 2008 8:19pm
what was really in that can? I have to admit Link would look funny as a lumberjack :) He could like wear one of those fake muscle things.

well you guys, this is one of your best music vids!
when we were in Lillington you guys let us listen to the instrumental and we were debating about the "baby trees" line. Its awesome to see the final product, it was awesome!
danthemontageman · Aug 26, 2008 7:12pm
My choice for maine man is ... you're gonna have to fight it out.
This is my favorite video of the whole road trip. If it wasn't for the new years resolutions vid, cornhole, freelance fireworks, the clip of future according to rhett where he says "bacon coke", and the viral video boom where link dances, this would be my fave vid of all ever. Oh and velcro. but otherwise yah.
I've traveled to Maine. It didn't have men of various skills and trades vying for my love and/or babymaking abilities (can i say that and still be family-friendly?) but it did have a road and a restaurant or two that we utilized on our way to and from Newfoundland.
Good Times.
(Alka Seltzer was not there in my case but maybe i'll take him next time)
Rachel (notatriplet) · Aug 26, 2008 5:34pm
The more I listen to this, the more I love it... That last line slays me:

So subtle, but OH SO SWEET! XD

Forgot to mention what my favorite part was!
"I've got a soft spot for baby trees" lol, and I don't know how a girl can be worry free when her guy bathes in bear pee. Personally, I think I'd risk the moose, lol, but I understand the concept of the bear pee....
Anna · Aug 25, 2008 9:43pm
Ahhh. I'd been waiting for this one for what seems like forever, and it didn't disappoint.
No, I've never been to Maine.
But I did thoroughly enjoy the bit where Link corrects Rhett about building the cabin in a month by himself.

Love the video and the song. The music reminds me of classic boy band music, but there's nothing wrong with that, right? You do no synchronized dancing anyway ... :-)
My favourite part of the video is where Link throws the net while singing the refrain.

This video really took me back to the days when boy bands such as the Backstreet boys were popular. lol, I take it boy bands had something to do with the inspiration of this video?
Again, Congrats!

Well, my girls say Link is the pick for their Maine Man. I like the rugged lumberjack type myself, but the bear pee might be a problem for me, Rhett. :)
I totally agree with everyone about the harmonies on this video! Plus the cool locations, the facial hair, all of the Maine facts, and that last line about wanting to file for the child tax credit and needing 'her' help with that...excellent! You guys out did yourselves on this video!
Mamacitax7 · Aug 25, 2008 3:23pm

This song is going to be stuck in my head the rest of the day I am sure :-)
sunny_gf · Aug 25, 2008 12:28pm
I've never been to Maine personally, but friends have been and told me it's beautiful.
BTW, just wanted to say ink might have done a good idea on the kast last week by only showing a part of the video... It left me with not knowing what EXACTLY the video was going to be about, and it surprised me with the lyrics. Usually when you premiere a video on the kast, I laugh so hard there, but when the videos released, it's just somehow not as new to me...
....and let the hate comments for me suggesting don't show whole videos on your show begin...
flipperz (Shane) · Aug 25, 2008 12:00pm
My hubby and I went to Maine for our honeymoon in 1999. We went to Bar Harbor first and then drove down to Freeport. We really loved it!
My favorite part of the video is where Link is putting the lobster in his shirt and says something like "I'll steam it with my body heat". Totally random and I love random! Hate to see this series end!
Suzanne · Aug 25, 2008 11:57am
Haha, I liked the part about the Moose in the road, when all it was was a scared old lady with her little dog covering up something he left!! AWSOME! and when you guys lifted up your arms as well as your hearts while the cross bridge lifted up for the boat to go through.........WOW!
Jonathan · Aug 25, 2008 11:50am
My family went on a trip to Maine when I was in high school. It was kinda foggy and rainy while we were there, which I loved. I thought the L.L. Bean store was sweet. What I saw of Maine was beautiful.
My favorite part of the vid was when you guys hit good harmonies - particularly when you go high on "state girl of Maine is YOU" and when you both go high on the final chorus. I like how you're on the same note but Link drops a 2nd to the note below creating tasty dissonance. Your music videos are my favorite thing you guys do, especially the ones that clearly took extra musical effort. My other faves are Cornhole and BBQ Song.
I always wonder why you don't overdub more harmonies? You have the voices for a great blend. The only time I've heard overdubbed 3-part harmony was in the Fireworks Song.
Keep up the sweet music vids, guys! Thanks for another great one.
Timothy · Aug 25, 2008 11:45am
My favorite parts were Link's facial expression while eating the blueberry pie at the beginning, the hilarious vocal effects throughout, the parts where the vocals go all high like on "The state girl of Maine is YOU!" I also like "The state animal is moose, the state mammal is moose!" and that entire section with arguing about who knows more facts about Maine. I really like the harmony during the part where the camera is circling around Rhett and then Link. I also like how you say "Girrrrl" at the end. LOL, great video. Keep doing music videos! They are the best!
Kelly · Aug 25, 2008 11:42am

Mamacitax7, to your question about whether Locke and Shepherd were inspired by Lost...No. We almost didn't use Shepherd because of this, but we figured we'd go for it. You're the first person to point this out. For the record, Locke was born before Lost ever aired, and my wife really like Shepherd for a number of reasons. Are we Lost fans? YES....favorite show. But the names are a coincidence. Thanks for asking!

Thanks, Rhett, for sharing the pictures of little Shepherd. My kids want to know if you and your wife are 'LOST' fans...John LOCKE and Jack SHEPHERD are popular characters on that show...

Great Job hosting last night Link every week the R&L kast brings something new/ original to the metaphorical table. And this week was interesting to say the least, i dont think i have ever seen a host interview their (co-)host on a show before. Congrats to Rhett on his newborn (and correctly spelled) boy, Shepherd and congrats to Link on holding down the fort so nicely.
an interesting observations: this has to be one of the first times that link pronounced it north caroLINA... does rhett have some sort of presense that alters link's soundwaves to say Cak-laka?

Rhett's new son looks adorable! I wish Rhett and his family the best of luck with the newborn! Congratulations!!!

Link, you did an awesome job of hosting last night! I was hoping you'd use the WebcamMax (You guys use that, right?) doodle feature to draw a line through Rhett's name for last night...Meh, a boy can dream.
Also, i agree with funk, Nana should have co-hosted! Imagine that!
And, again, congrats to Rhett and his MANY family members who were at the hospital last night.

Great show Link! I can't imagine having to do all of that alone. Good job on keeping it all together.
Congrats Rhett on the super cute baby! Hope you'll be back next week with some non-graphic baby type stories.

Link you did a great job last night flying solo...however, i do have to admit that i was wishing upon a star that nana was going to help co-host....just think... the Link and Nanakast Live!
but again....great job and a big Congrats to Rhetts family...
now my wife is pressuring me into another one...."See Rhett has two!!!"

@cephas76 (thanks for the thumbs up a while back!) I think about stuff like that too. It takes a special personality to be able to meet new people and perform live the way the guys do and not get flustered or mess up.
I also think about how odd it must be for Rhett & Link (or any celebs) to deal with people who 'know' them from their show/YouTube/live appearances etc. and most of the time they have no clue who those people are. That would be challenging for me but the guys seem to take it all in stride and I admire them for that!
Pay no heed, Guys, to those tiny 'oops' moments like we heard in Rhett's ''bread & meat/Rhett&Link'' story from NY...I think we all agree with JC Houck's and Tashabouvier's comments that Rhett&Link ARE making a ''funny CLEAN'' ''dent on the world''!!
Mamacitax7 · Sep 3, 2008 11:15am
You guys are the best. You can hear them laughing as they cut away. You are making a dent on the world! (Besides tube socks, I mean)
Tashabouvier · Sep 2, 2008 1:34pm

Big Boy · Sep 2, 2008 7:07am

sad enough, I woke up this morning hoping that a new road trip video would be up. I knew it was over, but I just needed to check ;]
mcmo · Sep 1, 2008 2:50pm
The TV didnt know what hit it! you guys are great.
Jonathan · Sep 1, 2008 1:58pm
Ever since I saw you sing this on the road trip with the backup band, it's been one of my fave R&L songs. You guys are masters of the southern-style music. I'd love to hear some bluegrass from you. And remember to add more harmonies.... =)
One of my faves. · Sep 1, 2008 11:56am
That was great. You guys are hilarious! Thank you for making funny CLEAN humor that my sons and I can enjoy together.
JC Houck · Aug 30, 2008 11:09pm
sliced pork butt rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
heh heh thanks guys for ruling.
Tip of the hat to you Link!
Bill obivously had no clue how funny you were he was like cracking up near the end
kitt · Aug 30, 2008 7:39pm
Tube socks as a gift is a great idea! You can never go wrong with socks! (Ok, maybe you can, but I personally find socks to be amazing.)
"We usually play characters, but this is the real us." lol, I like how you say that while you're both dressed in character. Funny!
However, my favorite quote during this six minute adventure of entertainment comes from Rhett.
"We're on a mission to sock the world and it starts with you!"

you guys musta had surgery to sing that high. impressive as always.
when i watch things like this, part of me is always thinking "oh man, i hope they dont screw up and blow it". but that feeling gets less and less the more i see you guys live interacting with folk. maybe i feel that way cause i could never keep my composure like that. you really are amazing.
cephas76 · Aug 29, 2008 6:56pm
Cool! I was going to make some sort of witty comment, I had it all typed out, but it sounded horrible. So...Congrats!
OriginalKemoSabe · Aug 29, 2008 6:42pm
Awesome song!
So... Rusty and Larnold pretended to be you on TV? *gasp! The nerve of some people! ;D
flipperz (Shane) · Aug 29, 2008 6:19pm
